TITLE: Ground Rule

Can we lay a ground rule? No more generalizations and no accusations of generalizations?
The most annoying thing about the entire political debate going on in our country currently is the fact that one side will generalize about the other WHILE claiming that the other side is generalizing about THEM. BOTH sides do it, and it sucks. Stop it.
Let's just agree that not all of those on the right are bigots / hayseeds / Klan members and that not all of those on the left are tree-hugging hippies / attempting to accomplish a radical homosexual agenda / WTO protesters who break Starbucks windows. Okay? And, while we're at it, let's remember that not all people fit into either left or right, but that many are right down the middle.
That's the worst thing about this whole election. "Well, you want to make everybody gay!!"
"Well, YOU'RE a fascist!!"
"Well, YOU hate America!!"
"Don't tell me I hate America. YOU hate America!"
"How dare you make such statements about me! That just shows the depths of your perversity!"
"You started the fucking argument! Now you want to call me perverse?!"
